FarmStraw Coarse Cut is a wheat straw bedding supplied in a compressed 3 cu ft, 25 lb package that loosens and expands to more than 10 cu ft once opened and fluffed. The coarse cut produces longer strands that interlock, forming a matted layer across the coop floor rather than a loose scatter of fine pieces.
Because the strands are long and coarse, the bedding resists packing down and lets air move through the litter. Wheat straw is naturally absorbent, drawing moisture away from the surface to help keep the floor drier and reduce lingering odors. The material is dust-free, which suits enclosed coops and birds sensitive to airborne particles.
The straw also traps a layer of air within its structure, giving the litter an insulative quality that buffers temperature swings in the coop. As a plant-based by-product, it can be composted after use. Spread a generous depth, turn the litter as needed, and top up to maintain a clean, dry surface.
